School halls that are used as a place for practicing after school hours have a rate of 24% constituting one-fourth of the region.Community halls and others takes up 18% of the space. College-based studios takes up one-tenth of the total area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by covering both the pie chart and the bar graph. You provide a clear overview in your introduction and second paragraph, highlighting key features such as private studios having the largest percentage and tap dance numbers remaining consistent across age groups. Data is accurately reported from the charts, noting key figures like 48% for private studios and 600 for ballet in the under-11 group. Ideas are well extended and supported with relevant statistics. To reach the highest bands, you could push your overview further by synthesising the broader trends more deeply rather than simply listing individual data points in the body paragraphs, ensuring an even more polished and comprehensive summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your writing displays a clear overall arrangement and logical progression throughout. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, moving smoothly from the introduction and overview to the pie chart details and finally the bar graph breakdown. You make use of transitional phrases such as 'Overall', 'Turning to the bar graph', and 'In contrast' to guide the reader through the data. Cohesion is generally clear, though referencing and cohesive devices occasionally feel slightly mechanical (e.g., 'The location of dance classes have...'). To achieve a higher band, you could aim for more seamless and sophisticated transitions between sentences and ensure that cohesive devices are integrated with absolute fluency so that the progression of ideas feels completely natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'calibrated', 'proportions', and 'participants'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocations, such as referring to the whereabouts of classes rather than their locations, and stating that private studios 'makes almost half of the whole region' instead of proportion or share. Spelling is generally accurate, but minor lexical awkwardnesses prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on precise vocabulary choices that fit academic contexts, avoiding conversational or slightly unnatural phrasings when discussing statistical charts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as relative clauses and comparative constructions. However, there are several grammatical errors and agreement issues present throughout the text. For instance, you wrote 'the private studios constitutes' (subject-verb agreement), 'The location of dance classes have' (should be 'has'), and 'College-based studios takes up' (should be 'take up'). Punctuation also needs care, as seen in missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'group. The data'). These errors occasionally interrupt the flow of the text. To reach a higher band, you need greater control over grammatical structures and tighter accuracy in subject-verb agreement across complex sentences.
