Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting data from both the location chart and the dance classes bar chart, including a clear overview of the main features. For example, you correctly identified that private studios account for the largest share at 48 percent and that modern dance is most popular among the 11 to 16 age group. However, some parts are more fully developed than others. The descriptions of individual data points tend to list figures mechanically without fully synthesising or comparing all the trends across categories, which keeps the development at a moderate level. To move to a higher band, you should ensure all key features are not only stated but thoroughly integrated into meaningful comparisons throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The report has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and separate body paragraphs addressing the different charts. You made reasonable attempts to use cohesive devices and structure your ideas logically, such as starting the second paragraph with "Overall" and contrasting categories using "While". However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly disjointed, particularly with referencing and sentence transitions like "At last students who shows..." which disrupt the natural flow. To achieve a higher score, you should work on smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and ensure that referencing phrases like "who has age" or "others are 300" clearly point back to their intended subjects without ambiguity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary range is adequate to complete the task, allowing you to discuss percentages, locations, and age groups using words like "proportion", "participants", and "compete". However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as writing "private studios holds the 48 percent" instead of 'account for', or using awkward expressions like "children's with age". There are also minor lexical slips that prevent the writing from achieving greater precision. To reach a higher band, you should expand your use of less common vocabulary relating to data reporting (such as 'constitute', 'predominant', or 'marginal') and pay closer attention to natural collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses introduced by "while" and "where". However, control over grammar is inconsistent, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ("private studios holds", "college based studios has"), awkward relative clauses ("who has age under 11", "who's age is ranging"), and punctuation slips. These errors occur regularly across the text, though they rarely impede overall communication. To improve this criterion, you need to eliminate basic agreement errors, refine your use of relative pronouns, and ensure that complex modifying clauses are grammatically accurate.
