Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You successfully addressed all parts of the task by presenting an overview of both the location of dance classes and the types attended by different age groups. You highlighted the main features, such as private studios being the most popular location at 48 percent and college-based studios being the least at 10 percent. For the second chart, you correctly contrasted the preferences of younger children (ballet at 600) with older children (modern at 500). However, your overview contains an over-generalisation and slight inaccuracy regarding dance types, stating that ballet is the overall most popular while tap has the least, which overlooks the specific breakdown between age groups where modern dance actually peaks for the older bracket. This partial development in your overview places the response squarely at this level, as some ideas are slightly under-developed or imprecise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs, bridging the pie chart and the bar chart effectively. You used paragraphing appropriately to separate different parts of the visual data. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'moreover', and 'however' were utilised, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly repetitive in structure. Referencing is mostly clear, but linking could be smoother to reach the higher standard where cohesion is fully flexible and unobtrusive throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and descriptive phrases such as 'account for', 'proportion', and 'consistent number'. However, there are some minor word-choice and spelling inaccuracies that reflect this band level, such as 'Austrailian' (spelling error) and phrasing like 'less amount of attendees' instead of 'fewer attendees'. These occasional errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher score due to a lack of sustained precision and style in uncommon lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over relative clauses and participial phrases such as 'making up for the other 24%'. However, there are persistent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including fragment sentences or awkward punctuation breaks like 'Young people between 11-16 and children less than 11 years old.' and 'upto 600. whereas, only...'. There are also minor preposition and article slips. These errors rarely impede communication, but the frequency of punctuation slips and slightly faulty complex structures keeps the grammar score at this level.
