Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview of the charts and reporting the main features, such as the highest percentage for private studios and comparisons across age groups. However, some ideas are under-developed or imprecise. For instance, the description of the bar chart data contains confused calculations and vague comparisons, such as stating 'There were 20 people different' or describing the modern dance difference confusingly as 'around half population of people difference'. While the overall trends are identified, the lack of precision and under-development of specific data points prevent the task achievement from reaching a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the answer into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for each chart. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The transitional phrases used, such as 'To commence with' and 'Moving further', feel somewhat unnatural and template-driven. Additionally, referencing and logical progression within the final paragraph become slightly confusing when attempting to contrast the age groups and data values, making the flow less than completely smooth throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but often with inaccuracy, such as 'youngsters who preffered private studios', misspelling 'preffered' and 'aged', and using awkward phrasing like 'young people used college-based studio' instead of studios. There are also inappropriate lexical choices such as 'measured in ratio and numbers' and 'age group humans'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and comparative structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement and preposition issues, such as 'young persons in a town... in the specific year', 'youngsters organised dance into the community hall', and tense or structural slips like 'It were 530 people and 300 persons respectively'. While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, their persistence across various sentence types keeps the grammatical control at this level.
