Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features from both the pie chart and the bar chart, with some useful comparisons made between categories and age groups. However, some areas are under-developed or contain minor inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, the text mentions that tap dance students 'are almost close to the age group of 11 to 16,' which is confusing and lacks clarity regarding the actual figures. While an overview is provided towards the end of the essay, the selection of data could be more thoroughly extended and synthesized to reach a higher level of performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information logically into separate paragraphs for the different charts. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitions like 'Followed by this' are slightly awkward, and referencing devices are not always handled smoothly. Paragraphing is present and separates the introduction, body data, and overview, but the flow between sentences could be improved to ensure clearer progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'portion,' 'proportion,' and 'popular.' There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are accompanied by word choice and spelling errors, such as 'higest' instead of 'highest,' 'moder' instead of 'modern,' and 'intrested' instead of 'interested.' Furthermore, phrasing like 'college baseed studios' and '500 number of students' shows some lack of precision in collocation, though these errors do not seriously impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable attempt at structuring sentences, such as in the opening and concluding remarks. There are, however, some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include missing articles or awkward phrasing like 'the location and types of dance classes' paired with minor prepositions issues, as well as a comma splice in the third paragraph ('As can be seen from the column bar chart that, ballet is...'). These errors occur alongside some error-free sentences and rarely impede communication.
