Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and report the main location figures accurately: private studios lead at 48%, followed by school halls at 24%, community halls at 18%, and college-based studios at 10%. You also make relevant age-group comparisons, including the higher modern-dance figure among 11–16-year-olds and the strong preference for ballet among under-11s. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the older ballet figure is about 300, not “30” students, and modern dance is approximately 520 rather than 500 for the older group. The response would be stronger with a concise overview identifying the broad contrast between age groups, and with more precise reporting of the chart’s key comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the charts, describes class locations, and then moves to dance types by age. Paragraphing helps distinguish these two sets of information, and signposts such as “First of all” and “Now” make the shift understandable. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical or conversational, particularly “if i'm looking at the graphic only” and “In the main time.” Some sentences also combine several figures and comparisons, making the relationships less clear. For example, the ballet sentence moves from the younger group’s figure to the older group’s figure in an awkward construction. Use a brief overview and organise the age-group comparisons in parallel sentences to improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the chart content, including “age group,” “private studios,” “college-based studios,” and “number of students.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “dnace,” “faces classes,” “Mordern,” and “privates studios.” Some expressions are also unnatural for an academic report, such as “if i'm looking at the graphic,” “in the second place,” and “the Tap dance is got.” Prefer concise, formal reporting language and accurate collocations, for example, “accounted for,” “the most popular class,” and “approximately.” These improvements would make the description more fluent and precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can generally follow the comparisons. However, some sentence structures and grammatical patterns are faulty. For example, “there is the school halls with 24% of people are going” combines incompatible structures; write “school halls account for 24%.” In “18% of people that is going,” the verb does not agree with the plural idea, and “a community halls” has an article–number mismatch. The final comparison, “The Tap dance is got almost the same number,” also has an incorrect verb construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and “i'm.” Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and use shorter, parallel sentences when comparing figures.
