Student answer (Band 4.5)
In this graph It is showing us about the dance classes of young people in Australia
Overall, the dance classes in Australia are done in private studios , community halls and others and school halls after school
Therefore, the dance classes in Australia are done in private studios because the in private studios people enjoy there and no one know each other so the young people can dance freely and 48% of the young people go in private studios because there is a special tutor to teach the dance
The community halls and others or school halls after the school they are less the community halls are 10% and after school halls are 24% and collage based studios are less because in these the young people know each other and they fell shy to dance infant of each other and the dance tutors are not that good to teach them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies private studios as the leading location and includes the figure of 48%, so it captures one important feature. However, it does not accurately report the other location figures: community halls and other venues account for 18%, not 10%, while school halls account for 24% and college-based studios for 10%. The response also omits the entire age-group dance chart, including the contrasting patterns for ballet, tap and modern. Much of the writing gives unsupported explanations about why young people choose venues, such as privacy and tutor quality, rather than summarising information shown in the charts. To address the task more fully, report the main comparisons from both charts and avoid inventing causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and then discussing locations, and words such as “Overall,” “Therefore” and “because” signal relationships between ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow: the overview repeats the same point, and the discussion moves between locations and speculative explanations without a clear sequence. The second paragraph also combines several comparisons in one long sentence, making the figures and relationships hard to distinguish. Use separate paragraphs for the location chart and the age-group chart, and group the most and least common categories clearly. More precise linking and referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “private studios,” “community halls” and “dance tutors,” and the main topic remains understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, with “dance classes” and “young people” used repeatedly, and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic chart summary. For example, “done in” is an imprecise way to describe where classes take place, while “less” does not clearly express a smaller proportion. There are also spelling errors such as “collage” and “fell,” and the phrase “infant of each other” appears to be an incorrect form. Use chart language such as “accounted for,” “proportion” and “venue,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas using clauses with “because” and “so,” but sentence structures are mostly simple or extended through repeated conjunctions, rather than showing a controlled range. Errors in sentence formation and punctuation are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. For instance, “Overall, the dance classes … are done … and school halls after school” is not a complete, well-formed comparison, and “the community halls are 10% and after school halls are 24%” lacks clear grammatical framing. Capitalisation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “graph It” and the spaces before commas. Practise concise comparative sentences, accurate articles and prepositions, and full stops to separate distinct points.
