Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including private studios as the most common location (48%) and college-based studios as the least common (10%). You also attempt to compare dance preferences by age. However, the age-group account is incomplete and partly inaccurate: the chart shows under-11s favour ballet at about 600, while 11–16-year-olds favour modern at about 520; your claim that 11-year-olds do ballet at 500 does not accurately describe the groups or figure. The response ends before reporting the remaining comparisons, and it gives no clear overview of the main pattern across all three dance types. Select the key highs and contrasts, report them accurately, and summarise both charts rather than repeating the location figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then discusses locations and age-related preferences. However, the progression is not clear or sustained. The second and third paragraphs repeat the point about private studios, while the final paragraph begins a comparison but stops at “where as people who attend,” leaving the idea unfinished. Linking phrases such as “where as” and “in contrast” are attempted, but they do not consistently connect complete, clearly developed comparisons. Use a separate paragraph for each chart, group related figures together, and ensure each paragraph has a complete point. A concise overview between the introduction and details would also help the reader follow the main features.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “private studios,” “college-based studios,” and “dance type,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make the description less clear, such as “citizen” for students or young people, “heighest,” “proprotion,” and “ballets.” Phrases such as “the most of the citizens” and “moderate” are also unnatural in this context. Aim for precise chart language and accurate collocations: for example, describe the “percentage of students attending” each location and say that a group “preferred” a dance style. Proofreading spelling and word forms would make the information easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts longer sentences and comparisons, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to interpret. For example, “illustrates the proportion of australian ctizen that how many of them take classes” has an unclear clause structure, while “the most of the citizens which are 11 in age, do ballet” has problems with articles, relative clauses, and sentence construction. There are also errors in comparison patterns, as in “age more the 11 to 16,” and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses such as “whereas” or “while.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
