Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover both charts and include several relevant figures, such as 48% for private studios and the contrast between ballet participation among the two age groups. However, the report is only partially effective because it lacks a clear overview of the main patterns and repeats location figures instead of selecting and comparing key features. Some data are also inaccurate: modern dance for ages 11–16 is about 520, not simply 500, and tap is about 450 for under-11s and 420 for 11–16s, rather than describing both as around 400. State the main contrasts clearly—for example, private studios are the most common venue, while college-based studios are least common—and report the age-group differences accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is some organisation: the response first discusses locations and then moves to dance types, so the reader can identify the two chart topics. However, ideas do not progress clearly within these sections. The location figures are repeated in “Private studios the locatio of the studio is 48%,” and “The percentage is high of private studios” adds little. Connections between comparisons are often unclear, particularly in the final paragraph, where ballet, modern and tap are discussed in a long sequence. Use a clear overview paragraph followed by one paragraph for locations and one for age-group comparisons, and connect each comparison with precise linking phrases such as “whereas” and “by contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “participate,” “age group” and the names of the dance styles, which makes the topic recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “the percentage is high,” “the number of student is average” and “the other half” for the remaining locations. Spelling errors—including “Thier,” “comunity,” “moderan” and “simliair”—also make the report less clear. Build a more precise set of terms for describing data, such as “accounted for,” “approximately,” “participation” and “the largest/smallest proportion,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to compare figures, but sentence structures are mostly simple or incomplete, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “The chart below give information” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The ballet type of dance under 11 the number of student is high” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles, plurals and agreement are also inconsistent in phrases such as “the number of student” and “Their are many type.” Some longer attempts, including the tap comparison, become difficult to follow because clauses are joined without clear punctuation. Practise complete comparison sentences, for example: “About 600 children under 11 attend ballet, compared with 300 students aged 11–16.”
