Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and identify the main location pattern, noting that private studios account for 48% and college-based studios 10%. You also compare dance choices by age, including the fall in ballet participation from about 600 to 300. However, some key figures are inaccurate: tap is about 450 for under-11s and 420 for 11–16-year-olds, not roughly 300 for both; modern rises from about 300 to 520, rather than 550. The overview that private studios are the most popular location is accurate, but saying ballet has the maximum number of students is only true for the younger group, not overall. More precise comparisons and a clearer overview of the age-group contrast would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on locations, a paragraph on dance types, and a concluding overview. This makes the two charts easy to distinguish. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes disrupted by awkward or inaccurate linking, such as “Whereas” beginning a fragment and “While” introducing another fragment. “Probabing ahead with the details” does not clearly signal the shift, and “Despite of this” does not express a clear relationship between the tap figures. The final overview repeats earlier information rather than bringing the main comparisons together. Use complete sentences and straightforward links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile,” ensuring each connector accurately reflects the relationship between the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “age groups,” “declined,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “former graph,” “for took dance classes learners,” “Probabing ahead,” and “maximum number of infants.” “Children” or “students” is more suitable than “infants” for the age groups shown, while “participated in” or “attended” would be more natural than “joined” for classes. There are also spelling errors such as “amost.” Aim for a smaller set of precise, natural expressions rather than using awkward synonyms; this will make the comparisons easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “which declined by 11–16 age groups” and “which increased about 550.” However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and prepositions are noticeable and sometimes make relationships unclear. “The graphs depicts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Whereas, college based studios had…” is not a complete sentence in this context. In “both the age groups of students number remained same,” the grammatical structure is difficult to follow, and “increased about 550” needs a clearer construction such as “rose to about 520.” Focus on complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and the grammatical patterns used with comparisons.
