Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both charts and give a clear overview: private studios are the leading location, while ballet is most popular among under-11s and modern dance among 11–16-year-olds. The figures you report for ballet and modern broadly match the chart, and you identify school halls as the second-largest location. However, some comparisons are over-generalised or imprecise. The two groups are not equally interested in tap: the chart shows about 450 under-11s and 420 older students. You also omit the exact shares for college-based studios and community halls, and the location paragraph does not compare these smaller categories. More precise reporting of the tap difference and the remaining location percentages would make the coverage more complete and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised in a clear sequence: an introduction, an overview, then separate paragraphs for location and dance types. This gives the reader a logical route through the two charts, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “With regard to location,” and “With respect to variety” make the shifts easy to follow. The main limitation is that some connections are broad rather than precise: “The rest of young people” does not clearly distinguish the two remaining location categories, and the final paragraph moves through the age groups and styles without consistently highlighting the comparisons. Use clearer references and organise the figures in parallel—for example, compare both age groups for each dance style—to strengthen progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “participants,” and “variety,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “summarizes” and “with respect to.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “dance teaching are being done,” “learning the dance,” and “the modern dance is famous.” Repetition of “youth” and “learning” also limits flexibility. Choose concise chart-reporting expressions such as “classes are held,” “students take classes,” and “modern dance is most popular.” More accurate collocations and a wider range of verbs for describing figures would improve precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the overview sentence contrasting the two age groups and the clause “while learning about modern dance.” The paragraphing and sentence boundaries are generally clear, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement and articles: “48% of dance teaching are” should use a plural subject such as “classes are,” while “24% of the youth is” has an awkward singular construction. The phrase “Both age groups youth are” also needs a clearer noun phrase, such as “Young people in both age groups.” Review countable and uncountable nouns, subject–verb agreement, and article use; greater accuracy in these patterns would make the varied sentence forms more controlled.
