Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main venue pattern accurately: private studios are largest at 48%, followed by school halls at 24%, while college-based studios are smallest at 10%. The overview also captures the broad contrast between younger children’s preference for ballet and older students’ preference for modern dance. However, the dance-style details are incomplete and partly unclear. You give the under-11 ballet figure, but do not report the older group’s modern figure accurately or explicitly identify modern as its leading style; “show strnger preference about 530” does not name the style. Tap is described only as a broad range, and the under-11 modern and older ballet figures are omitted. Include the key comparisons across all three styles to make the coverage more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for venue and dance-style data. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “On closer observation,” and “Additionally” help signal the stages of the report. However, the final paragraph’s comparisons are not consistently connected: “In contrast, aged group under 11-16 show strnger preference about 530” leaves the reader unsure which dance style the figure describes, and the following sentence shifts to tap without a clear comparison. The venue paragraph also repeats the point that private studios have the highest share. Organise the dance figures by style or age group and use clear references to make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “proportion,” “ranked second,” and “preference,” and the meaning is generally understandable. Some phrasing is imprecise or unnatural, however, which limits the clarity and flexibility of the vocabulary. For example, “participated by different age groups” is an awkward way to describe class types, while “more attend in modern classes” and “preference about” do not express the intended comparison naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “strnger,” “modertely,” and “partcipated,” alongside the nonstandard spelling “piechart.” Use accurate collocations such as “attend modern classes” and “show a stronger preference for,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Moreover” and the contrast introduced by “In contrast.” Most of the intended meaning can be followed, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy and occasionally make comparisons unclear. In the opening, the singular subject “piechart” takes “illustrate” rather than “illustrates”; “the youngest group are” also has an agreement problem. The phrase “aged group under 11-16 show” lacks a clear grammatical construction, and “400 to 500 childrens participated” has an incorrect plural form and awkward sentence structure. Articles and age-group phrasing also need attention, as in “under 11 age group.” Build a reliable pattern for reporting figures, then check agreement, articles, and sentence completeness.
