Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and identify important features: private studios are the largest location category, and ballet is most popular among children under 11, while modern is strongest for the older group. The figures you give for community halls, school halls and private studios match the chart, and your comparisons of ballet and modern are broadly accurate. This meets the task well, but the overview is incomplete: it omits the 10% college-based figure and does not clearly summarise the contrast in dance preferences across both age groups. The tap figures are also reported as 400–405, whereas the chart shows approximately 450 for under-11s and 420 for 11–16s. A more precise overview and accurate reporting of this comparison would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a generally sensible order, moving from an overview to location figures and then to the age-group chart. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Apart from that,” and “Furthermore” help signal additions, and the reader can usually follow the main comparisons. However, the paragraph is presented as one continuous block, so the two charts and the overview are not clearly separated. Several transitions are repetitive or do not express the relationship precisely, and the long final sentence combines multiple points. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and each chart, and connect comparisons directly—for example, contrast the age groups’ ballet and modern preferences. This would create clearer progression and less mechanical cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “private studio,” “dance classes,” “age group,” “attendance,” and “ratio,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “illustrates” and “individuals.” However, word choice and collocation are often unnatural or imprecise: “the community halls and other use 18%” and “the ratio of attendance remain almost same” do not express the data naturally. “Most prefer” is also an awkward form for describing a chart trend. Repeated use of “particular,” “youngster,” and “dance class” limits flexibility. Prefer concise chart language such as “accounted for,” “attendance was similar,” and “was more popular among.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons between age groups, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: the opening phrase “classes that currently attending” lacks a correctly formed verb, and “Ballet dance class attend 600 children” has an unclear subject–verb relationship. Agreement and verb forms also need attention in “the ratio of attendance remain” and “the modern dance class is most prefer.” Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops or commas, making boundaries harder to see. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles, agreement, and punctuation. More reliable control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
