Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and give a clear overview: private studios are the most common location, college-based studios the least common, and the leading dance style differs by age group. Most location figures are accurate, and the comparisons between age groups are relevant. However, there are important inaccuracies in the class data: under-11 tap is reported as 200 rather than about 450, while the 11–16 figures are given as 530 and 290 rather than about 520 and 300. The overview also says ballet has the highest participation among under-11s, but does not identify that ballet leads for the older group. More precise reporting and a complete overview would strengthen an otherwise relevant response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to supporting details. This makes the main comparisons reasonably easy to follow. However, the final paragraph combines location figures, a description of the age groups, and dance-class data, so the information does not progress as smoothly as it could. Some linking is repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “followed by,” and the overview’s comparisons are not consistently carried through in the details. Organise the body into clearer groups—for example, one paragraph for locations and one for age-group patterns—and use concise comparisons such as “whereas” or “by contrast” to make relationships clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “participants,” “account for,” and the names of the dance styles. These choices generally communicate the chart information, though some phrasing is repetitive or imprecise. For example, “people” is less specific than “classes” or “students,” and “more into modern dance classes” is informal for an academic summary. “Ballet type of dance classes” is also an awkward construction. Aim for more natural collocations and vary the language used to describe figures and rankings; this would make the report more precise while retaining its clear, accessible vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. The opening sentence uses “illustrate data on” followed by an awkward clause, and “the the college-based studios” contains a repeated article. There are also agreement and article problems in “The dance classes is attended” and “Ballet dance has the most participants of age group under 11.” The overview sentence “Modern type of dance classes has highest participants” similarly needs more accurate article use and sentence construction. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, and revise longer sentences so that each comparison has a clear grammatical structure.
