Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and provide a clear overview, identifying private studios as the leading location and contrasting the age groups’ preferences for ballet and modern dance. Most figures are reported accurately, including the location percentages and the approximate student totals. However, the overview says “the most of the people from age 11 to 16” take modern dance, which is not quite precise: modern is the largest category for that group, but the figures are relatively close to tap. The final claim that ballet is “most famous” because it has 900 students is also unclear, since this total combines both age groups and is not compared with the combined totals for other styles. More careful synthesis of the age-group comparisons would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a sensible four-paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the location and dance-type charts. This makes the main information easy to locate, and phrases such as “followed by” help show ranking. The progression is generally clear, but some links between ideas are abrupt. In the final paragraph, the figures are listed by dance type and then the response jumps to “Ballet host 900 students,” without explaining how this total relates to the other styles. The overview also repeats points that are developed later. To strengthen cohesion, group the age-group comparisons more systematically and use clear references when moving from individual figures to overall totals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “percentage,” “followed by,” “age group,” and “in total,” so the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “Ballet dance is attend,” “Tap hosts 425 people,” and “Ballet host 900 students.” “Famous” is also not the most suitable term for participation figures; “popular” or “most widely attended” would be more precise. There are spelling errors, including “poeple,” and repeated use of “people” and “dance” makes parts of the report less fluent. Aim for accurate chart language such as “students enrolled in,” “accounted for,” and “the largest number of participants.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect accuracy. For example, “the charts … shows” should use a plural verb, while “the most common place … are” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “people from age 11 to 16 takes part,” the verb form is incorrect, and “Ballet dance is attend by 600 students” has a faulty passive construction. Some sentences also lack clear grammatical links, as in “Ballet host 900 students makes it most famous dance.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and passive forms, and check each sentence for a complete, clearly connected structure.
