Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and provide a general overview, correctly identifying private studios as the largest location share and noting the contrast between ballet for younger students and modern for older students. However, several figures or comparisons are inaccurate: under-11 ballet is about 600, not 520; the 11–16 tap figure is about 420, so calling it an “average number” is vague; and community halls account for 18%, which is not reported. The overview also says school halls are “less than a twice,” leaving the comparison unclear. The response is four words below the 150-word minimum, with 18 words copied from the prompt excluded. Include the missing location figure and make the age-group comparisons more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs covering the charts. This helps the reader identify the two topics. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and some linking expressions do not clarify the relationships between ideas. For example, “At the first glance” and “Secondly” are mechanical, while “Whereas” begins a fragment-like contrast rather than a clearly connected sentence. The overview also combines location and age-group trends without a clear transition. Organise the body around the two charts, report each set of figures in a consistent order, and use links such as “By contrast” only where they express a precise comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “percentage,” “proportion” and “age group,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or vague, which limits precision: “private studios famous for all people” does not naturally describe a chart share, and “comprised average percentage comparision” is difficult to interpret. There are also spelling errors such as “modoern,” “collage-based” and “pefer,” alongside repetition of “prefer.” Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “accounted for,” “represented” and “the most popular”—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Although” and a clause introduced by “where.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences have faulty structure or punctuation. “Although Ballet dance is most popular for under 11 and modoern dance is popular for above 11-16 age group” is not a complete, well-formed contrast, while “Whereas age of 11-16 around 300 people want to do ballet dance” lacks a clear main clause. Capitalisation after “Overall,” and the comma splice-like construction in “Overall, It is clear” also need attention. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement and punctuation.
