Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and provide a clear overview: private studios account for the largest share, college-based studios the smallest, and ballet differs in popularity between the age groups. Most figures are consistent with the chart, including 48% for private studios and 600 under-11 ballet students. The comparison of school and community halls as a combined 42% is also accurate. This meets the task well, with some features reported more fully than others. However, the overview says teenagers choose college-based studios least, although the pie chart gives locations for classes overall rather than by age; avoid assigning that preference specifically to teenagers. The dance-type details could also be more precise: tap is about 450 for under-11s and 420 for 11–16s, rather than approximately 400 for both.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a sensible overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for location and dance-type details. This makes the main comparisons easy to follow, and linking words such as “Overall,” “whereas,” and “However” help signal relationships. Cohesion is not always smooth, though. The overview repeats the location ranking that is explained again in the next paragraph, while the final paragraph moves between age groups and dance styles without consistently pairing the figures. Some transitions, such as “The tap dance is popular among both age groups,” introduce a broad claim but do not clearly connect it to the different values. Grouping each dance type with both age-group figures would create clearer progression and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “age group,” and “approximately,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “contribute highest proportion,” though this collocation is not natural. Several word-choice and word-form errors reduce precision: “prefered” is misspelled, “preferable” is used where “popular” or “preferred” is intended, and “amount age group” is not an appropriate phrase. “Significantly lowerer” is also an incorrect form. Aim for accurate chart-reporting collocations and check spelling and word forms; this would make the vocabulary more controlled while retaining the useful range already shown.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses with “whereas” and “while,” and most of the information remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The introduction is missing articles and has an incomplete location phrase: “in city of Australia” should be “in a town in Australia.” In “private studios are preferred by most of the youngsters,” the article is unnecessary, and “the ballet is most preferable dance type” needs a clearer article and structure. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as spaces before full stops and inconsistent comma use. Review articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and accurate grammatical pattern.
