Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and identify several important comparisons: private studios account for the largest share (48%), college-based studios the smallest (10%), and the preferred dance styles differ by age group. Most figures are reported accurately, including the approximate student numbers. However, the overview says ballet was most popular among under-11s and modern among 11–16-year-olds, whereas the chart shows modern is most popular for the older group; this is contradicted later when you correctly report modern at about 520. The location discussion also calls the remaining 10% “other causes,” which is unclear. A more precise overview and clearer explanation of the location categories would make the response more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the location and age-group data. Phrases such as “Looking at the figure” and “Turning towards data” help signal a shift in focus. However, progression is uneven because the overview’s claim about modern dance conflicts with the later figures, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “but 11-16 is most popular with over 500 students” does not clearly state that this figure refers to modern dance. The location paragraph also moves from the largest category to the smaller ones without a clear comparison pattern. Use explicit references to each age group and category, and organise comparisons consistently.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “popular,” “followed by,” “approximately,” and “made up,” which helps communicate comparisons and quantities. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. “Most busy dance classes” and “least useful” do not accurately describe the largest and smallest shares, while “most individuals like to the private studios” is an awkward way to report a proportion. There are also misspellings such as “collage,” “calsses,” “indviduals,” and “prefered.” Aim for precise terms such as “largest proportion,” “smallest share,” and “most popular,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and a participial phrase such as “followed by tap at around 450.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include “the most busy dance classes is,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “ballet, was the most popular,” where punctuation interrupts the sentence. Several sentences lack clear grammatical structure, particularly “but 11-16 is most popular with over 500 students,” which does not identify the subject being compared. Articles, sentence boundaries, and comma use also need attention. Build accuracy by writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and punctuation.
