Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given charts illustrates the information regarding the location and types of dance classes, young people currently attending in a town in Australia.

The pie chart shows the location of dance classes. About 48% of the location was occupied by private studio whereas School halls (after-school) occupies half of the private studios percentage. While, community halls & other and college-based studios covers 18% and 10% of the location respectively.

The bar graph illustrates the comparison analysis of dance classes type according to the age group. About 600 students of having age under 11 attend the ballet dance class while only 50% of the the students having age between 11 to 16 attends the ballet dance class as compare to the under 11 aged students. Moreover, 450 students having age under 11 attend tap dance class while 430 students having age between 11 to 16 attends the tap dance class. Furthurmore, only 300 student of under 11 age attends modern dance class while more than 500 students of age between 11 to 16 attends the modern dance class.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover both charts and include several relevant figures, such as 48% for private studios, 600 under-11 ballet students and the higher modern-class attendance among 11–16-year-olds. However, the response is only partially developed because it lacks a clear overview of the main patterns across the charts. Some comparisons are also inaccurate or imprecise: school halls account for 24%, which is half of the private-studio share, but the wording that they “occupies half” is unclear; the older ballet group is 300, not simply “50%” without stating the number; and tap attendance is approximately 420, rather than 430. Add a concise overview and report the key contrasts accurately to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent basic arrangement: an introduction is followed by a paragraph about the pie chart and one about the bar chart. This makes the two sources easy to distinguish, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help signal additional details. However, progression within the paragraphs is somewhat mechanical, with a sequence of individual figures rather than a clear hierarchy of main features and supporting comparisons. The opening of the pie-chart paragraph, “About 48% of the location,” also makes the reference unclear. Organise the bar-chart details around the strongest contrasts—for example, ballet and modern—and use clearer references and transitions so the comparisons connect more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the subject, including “private studios,” “bar graph,” “age group,” and the dance styles. There are also attempts to vary phrasing with “illustrates” and “comparison analysis.” However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which reduces precision: “48% of the location was occupied” does not clearly describe the share of classes, and “students of having age” is an awkward way to refer to an age group. “Attend the ballet dance class” is also less natural than a concise collocation such as “take ballet classes.” Spelling errors such as “Furthurmore” are noticeable. Use precise chart language such as “accounted for” and “the proportion of classes,” and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and additions introduced by “Moreover” and “Furthermore.” The main information is generally understandable, but frequent errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction limit accuracy. For example, “The given charts illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “School halls … occupies” needs a plural verb; “the students … attends” also has incorrect agreement. The phrase “students of having age under 11” is grammatically faulty, and the sentence beginning “While, community halls…” is a fragment. Practise forming complete comparison sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and singular/plural forms before submitting.
