Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify both chart topics and include several relevant figures, such as 48% for private studios and 24% for school halls. You also make a useful age-group comparison for ballet and modern dance. However, the overview is unclear and some claims are inaccurate: the location chart does not show which age group attends each venue, and the figures for the dance types are not reported. The statement that tap is lower than ballet for under-11s is broadly supported, but the comparisons for ages 11–16 are not clearly tied to the chart values. The response is also 22 words below the 150-word minimum. Add a clear overview and report the main figures for both age groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, moving from the location chart to the types of classes, and phrases such as “while” and “as compared to” signal comparisons. However, the response has no clear paragraph structure or sustained progression: the location details and age-group claims are crowded into one section, followed by short, disconnected statements about dance types. Linking is sometimes unclear, particularly “tap group is some less from ballet” and “modern has less contrast to other two types,” which makes the intended comparisons difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the two charts, begin with an overview, and connect each comparison explicitly to its age group and figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “ballet,” “tap,” and “modern,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes obscures meaning. For example, “half most of the area is reserved” is an awkward way to describe the largest share, while “tap group is some less from ballet” does not express the comparison clearly. “Modern has less contrast to other two types” is also imprecise. Aim for standard data-reporting language and accurate collocations, such as “accounted for,” “was higher than,” and “the smallest proportion.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to compare information using clauses with “while” and “as compared to,” but sentence structures are limited and frequent errors make several statements hard to interpret. For example, “the location of dance classes include the people” has subject–verb agreement and sentence-construction problems, and “the people above 11 to 16 are increasing in modern” uses an unclear subject and verb form. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the lowercase opening “overall” and several fragments such as “modern has less contrast to other two types.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check agreement and articles, and punctuate each comparison as a separate sentence.
