Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover both charts and identify the main location pattern accurately: private studios lead at 48%, while college-based studios are least used at 10%. You also make relevant comparisons across the age groups, including the contrast in ballet and modern dance, and note that tap participation is similar. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting figures. However, the overview says ballet and modern are the most popular genres among students overall, which is too broad: the chart shows different preferences by age, and tap is also highly attended. The location figures are described as percentages “of the area,” rather than shares of class locations. A more precise overview and clearer comparison of the age-group patterns would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of locations and dance types. Information generally progresses logically, and contrast markers such as “however” and “in contrast” help connect comparisons. The location figures are grouped together, while the final paragraph addresses the age-based data. To make the organisation more controlled, use clearer sentence boundaries and avoid linking several comparisons in one long sentence. The final point about tap is not supported with the actual figures, so the reader must infer what “almost equal” means. More consistent punctuation and a clearer division between the two age groups would provide the stronger progression expected at the next level.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “comprising,” “least common,” and “participating,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: classes are not “allocated” to areas, and “famous genres” does not describe participation levels. “Aspirants” is also unsuitable for students attending classes. Spelling slips such as “locaion,” “grous,” and “oly” reduce accuracy, while “dance class practice” is an awkward phrase. Aim for precise chart language and natural collocations, such as “share of classes held” and “number of students enrolled.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex structures, including contrast clauses with “however” and “in contrast,” and the main comparisons can usually be understood. However, some sentence forms are incomplete or awkwardly constructed. For example, “private studios being the most used location…” lacks a finite verb, and “Modern dance is common among older students with around 520 students per class” has an unclear grammatical relationship between the class and the number of students. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and punctuation, including “the least common place … are” and the lower-case “while” after a full stop. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas.
