Student answer (Band 6.0)
The piechart illustrates the propotion of various location of the dance classes, whereas the bar graph provides the data on the type of dance clases students opt for in a particular town of Australia.
Overall, private studios accounted for the largest share, coversely, the college-based studios shared the smallest proportion. On the other hand ballet dance was quiet popular among the youngsters whereas, the modern dance is greatly influenced by the teenagers.
The location for dance clases was significantly contributed with 48% of the share by the private studios, as a result it become the major segment. This was then followed by the school halls and community halls with 24% and 18% respectively. At the bottom of the spectrum lies the college-based studios with just 10% of the total propotion and reflects the least contributing share.
Moreover, Ballet dance was largely pratcticed by more or less 600 students under 11 years of the age representing the crucial data among the other types. It was quite opposite with the another age group (ie 11-16 years) which was approximately 300 students reflecting the least significant dance type. Tap dancing was moderate for the both age groups each above 400 students. Next in line is modern dance with nearly 530 teenagers students and acurately 300 students under 11 years of age.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and give a clear overview: private studios are the most common location, college-based studios the least common, and the dance preferences differ by age. Most figures are reported accurately, including the location shares and the ballet and tap comparisons. However, the overview’s claim that ballet was popular among “youngsters” is too broad: ballet leads among under-11s, while modern leads among 11–16-year-olds. The phrase “modern dance is greatly influenced by the teenagers” also does not clearly describe the chart’s finding. Your detail about modern dance is close, but the chart shows about 520 older students, rather than 530. To strengthen the response, state the age-group contrast precisely and make the overview’s key comparisons clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a sensible four-paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate descriptions of the two charts. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. You also use linking expressions such as “This was then followed by” and “Next in line” to connect details. However, some transitions are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately: “On the other hand” does not clearly connect the location findings to the age-group results, and “Moreover” is a weak transition into the second chart. The final paragraph also moves between age groups and dance types without a fully consistent comparison pattern. Organise that paragraph by dance type or age group, and use clearer references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “largest share,” “segment,” and “representing,” and the main information is generally understandable. There is also some variation in how you describe proportions and student numbers. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the modern dance is greatly influenced by the teenagers,” “the crucial data,” and “the least significant dance type.” Spelling errors, including “propotion,” “clases,” “pratcticed,” and “acurately,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for straightforward, accurate chart language rather than elaborate phrases: for example, say that modern dance was most popular among older students, and describe a figure as the highest or lowest number.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and more complex structures, including the contrast in “whereas the bar graph provides…” and the relative clause “which was approximately 300 students.” This shows an attempt to vary sentence forms. However, control is uneven, and some errors make relationships harder to follow. For example, “private studios accounted for the largest share, coversely, the college-based studios shared the smallest proportion” joins two independent clauses incorrectly and has faulty punctuation. In “the college-based studios with just 10% … and reflects,” the subject and verb do not agree. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “It was quite opposite with the another age group.” Review clause boundaries, agreement, and article use, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
