Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both charts and give a clear overview of the main patterns: private studios have the largest share, college-based studios the smallest, and the leading dance style differs by age group. Most figures are accurately reported, including 48%, 24%, 18%, and the approximate ballet and modern totals. The comparison that tap is “equally famous” is a little too broad: the chart shows about 450 under-11 students and 420 aged 11–16, so these figures are similar rather than equal. Also, the overview says modern is most popular among people “over 11,” whereas the chart’s group is specifically 11–16. More precise age labels and a clearer comparison of the tap figures would strengthen an otherwise well-focused summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs on location and dance types. This makes the two charts easy to follow, and comparisons such as ballet being highest for under-11s but lowest for the older group help connect the data. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. “Furthermore” introduces a general statement that adds little, while “while” begins a new sentence after a full stop in the final paragraph. The location paragraph lists the categories but could group the figures more deliberately, and the final sentence about tap would fit better alongside a direct comparison of both age groups. Use linking phrases selectively and ensure each paragraph develops a clear comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “distribution,” “share,” and “ranked the lowest,” so the main information is communicated clearly. There are also attempts at varied phrasing, such as “most preferred location” and “least popular.” However, several spelling errors—“propotion,” “catogories,” and “preffered”—reduce accuracy, and some expressions are not natural for describing chart data. “Equally famous” is better replaced with “similarly popular,” while “attenders” is not the usual term for people taking classes; use “students” or “participants.” Aim for precise, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully, especially in the overview and key comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the contrast in “Ballet is most popular among people under 11 … while it is the least popular among people over 11.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems persist. The opening omits an article in “in town in australia,” and “Ballet classes are … while modern are most popular” has an agreement problem because “modern” refers to classes. In the final paragraph, “while” is incorrectly capitalised after a full stop, and the sentence beginning “Modern is most popular” lacks a clear parallel structure for its two comparisons. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then vary sentence patterns while keeping comparisons grammatically balanced.
