Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and identify several important contrasts: private studios account for the largest share, and the preferred dance style differs by age group. Your comparisons of ballet and modern are broadly accurate, but the overview says “private schools” rather than private studios, and “in the age group of 11 ballet dance in more popular” is unclear and does not accurately summarise the older group, where tap is the least popular and modern is the most popular. You also omit the tap figures and provide little numerical comparison for the bar chart. The location figures are reported accurately. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview and support the age-group comparisons with the approximate values shown.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the location and dance-type data. This makes the two charts easy to distinguish. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and some linking phrases sound mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. For example, “By the following details” does not naturally introduce evidence, while “Additionally” and “However” do not establish clear contrasts in their sentences. The bar-chart paragraph also moves from ballet to modern without giving a complete, balanced comparison of both age groups. Use straightforward transitions such as “Regarding location” and “By contrast,” and organise each comparison consistently by age group or dance style.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “college-based studios,” and “age group,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report awkward: “institues of dance classes,” “highest ratio,” “area of the dance classes,” and “least important sites” do not express the chart information naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “calsses” and “popluar.” Choose precise terms for proportions and locations, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a location as the “most common venue” and a chart share as a “proportion” or “percentage.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a sentence beginning “According to bar graph.” However, errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are frequent enough to make some statements difficult to follow. Examples include “the private studios are most popular area … with accounted 48%,” which lacks a clear grammatical construction, and “Ballet dance in more popular,” where the verb form is incorrect. Articles and prepositions are also missing or awkward, as in “According to bar graph” and “in the age group of under 11.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences: “Private studios are the most popular venue, accounting for 48%.” Then check articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
