Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both charts and provide a clear overview: private studios are the most common location, college-based studios the least common, and the leading dance styles differ by age group. The figures you report for locations and the main ballet and modern comparisons are consistent with the chart. You also note that tap participation is similar across the groups, with a slight lead among under-11s. This gives the response a well-supported account of the main features. To make the reporting more precise, state the tap figures (about 450 and 420) and describe the chart as showing students attending classes rather than saying they “play” a dance style. The overview is relevant, though its comparisons could be expressed more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs on location and dance types. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Regarding,” “In contrast,” and “Furthermore” help signal the comparisons, and the reader can follow the main points. The organisation is therefore coherent, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the long sentence beginning “For the type of these classes” combines several comparisons with repeated “while” clauses, making the relationships harder to process. The final tap comparison is also brief and lacks figures. Use shorter, more balanced sentences and make each comparison explicit to achieve smoother progression and more flexible cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing proportions and comparisons, including “highest proportion,” “followed by,” “in contrast,” and “slightly dominating.” These choices help communicate the chart’s main patterns, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: students do not “play” modern or ballet, studios do not “experience” percentages, and “the type of these classes” is vague. Repetition of “highest” and “least” also limits flexibility. Choose precise chart language such as “attend,” “account for,” “most popular,” and “lowest participation,” and use “dance styles” consistently. This would make the description more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including contrast clauses and participial constructions, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, errors in sentence formation and agreement recur. The opening phrase “are participate now” has an incorrect verb form, while “520 student who are between 11 and 16 year” has problems with plural agreement and relative-clause structure. In “private studios account for 48%, make it the highest proportion,” the second clause is not grammatically connected to the first. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise forming accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check plural nouns, verb forms, and clause links before submitting.
