Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and identify several important features: private studios are the largest location category at 48%, college-based studios are smallest at 10%, and ballet leads among under-11s at 600. You also recognise the contrast in dance preferences between the age groups. However, some comparisons are incomplete or inaccurate: the 11–16 group’s highest figure is modern at about 520, but tap is also substantial at about 420 and is omitted; under-11s’ tap figure (about 450) is likewise not discussed. The overview also calls modern the least favourite among older students, although it is their most popular style. Report the main patterns accurately and compare all three dance types across both groups to make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each chart, and a concluding summary. This makes the information easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “However,” “According to the bar chart,” and “To sum up” help signal shifts. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Despite modern is likely to students…” does not form a clear concluding relationship, and “A pattern shift has been seen” is vague rather than specifying the change between age groups. The conclusion also repeats earlier points without resolving the comparison. Use more precise links and ensure each paragraph develops a clear comparison before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “private studio,” “college-based studios,” “share,” “selection,” and “favourite.” These terms help communicate the chart categories and comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “almost of half,” “go for school halls,” “students…go praticing,” and “modern is likely to students.” There are also spelling errors, including “younsters,” “sudents,” and “quater,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe students as “attending” or “taking classes in” a style, and use “accounted for” or “represented” when reporting proportions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including contrast structures with “However” and “Whereas,” and most of the intended meaning can be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include “almost of half of young people,” “the type of dance majority of young people who aged under 11 are attending,” and “with only 300 students go praticing ballet.” The final sentence beginning “Despite” is also incomplete as written. Use complete clauses after contrast markers, form age descriptions with “who are aged” or “aged,” and check that subjects and verbs agree. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons clearer.
