Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and identify several important features: private studios are the most common location at 48%, college-based studios are the least common at 10%, and the leading dance style differs by age group. You also include relevant figures for ballet and tap. However, some comparisons are incomplete or unclear. For example, you say modern has the maximum number among 11–16-year-olds but do not give its approximate figure of 520, and the final statement that the pattern is “reverse” is not explained precisely. The tap figure for older students is reported as nearly 430, which is close to the chart’s approximate 420. A clearer overview comparing the age groups and more consistently reported figures would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about locations, a paragraph about dance types, and a concluding overview. This gives the reader a coherent route through both charts. Some linking is effective, such as “whereas” when contrasting age groups, but other transitions feel mechanical or do not form complete sentences, particularly “probing ahead toward the types of dance classes…” The final overview repeats earlier points without clearly explaining the contrast between the age groups. Improve progression by grouping the age-group comparisons together and using direct links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” to show how the figures relate. Clearer sentence boundaries and references would also make the connections easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “location,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “approximately,” and you attempt less common terms such as “multifarious.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this report: “dance institution,” “seekers,” and “the most prefered place” do not describe the data naturally. Spelling and word-form errors, including “percenage,” “collage,” and “prefered,” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim for precise, conventional language rather than ornate substitutions. Terms such as “venues,” “students,” and “most popular location” would communicate the chart information more clearly and consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “whereas,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, grammatical control is uneven. Agreement errors appear in phrases such as “Ballet dance classes has” and “Modern classes has,” while some clauses are incomplete or awkwardly joined, as in “following with Tap dance classes has approximately 450 seekers.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention; the opening runs directly into “The whole data…” without a space after the full stop, and several sentences begin with lower-case words. Practise forming complete subject–verb–object sentences, checking singular and plural agreement, and punctuating each sentence clearly. These corrections would make your comparisons easier to interpret.
