Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main location pattern accurately: private studios account for the largest share (48%), while college-based studios are the smallest (10%). You also report several key figures from the age chart, including 600 under-11 ballet students and roughly 500 older students in modern dance. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not capture the contrasting age-group preferences, with under-11s highest in ballet and 11–16-year-olds highest in modern. The final comparison is also unclear and partly inaccurate: 300 applies to under-11 modern and older-group ballet, not older-group modern. Develop the overview around these contrasts and check that each figure is paired with the correct dance and age group.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear four-paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate descriptions of the two visuals. Phrases such as “Looking at the pie chart” and “Turning to the table” help signal the shift in focus, and the information generally progresses logically. Cohesive links including “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Similarly” are used to connect points. At times, however, the links do not make the relationship between figures clear: the final sentence combines two separate 300-student values without specifying both pairings accurately. Use more precise referencing and organise the age-chart comparisons by age group or dance type so the reader can follow the contrasts without having to infer them.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “distribution,” “recorded,” and “age-wise,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary wording rather than repeat “students” throughout. However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing charts: “area for dance practices” is less direct than “location,” and “found practicing” is awkward in this context. Spelling errors such as “approxiamately,” “practicies,” and “respectivily” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe students as “taking” or “attending” classes and use “approximately” when qualifying estimates.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas” and “while,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. In the opening, “The pie chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “while, the table” uses punctuation incorrectly. There are also problems with articles and number agreement in “a ballet dance classes” and “the college based studios was.” The final sentence is difficult to parse because its parallel structure does not clearly match each figure to its age group and dance type. Practise accurate agreement and article use, and keep comparisons in parallel forms, such as “300 under-11s took modern, compared with 300 older students taking ballet.”
