Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two chart topics and report some relevant figures, including private studios at 48%, college-based studios at 10%, and the under-11 figure of 300 for modern dance. However, the response only partially covers the task: the bar chart discussion stops mid-sentence and omits most comparisons between age groups and dance styles. The overview is also unclear, and the claim that under-11s dominate both ballet and tap is not accurate: they lead in ballet, but the 11–16 group has slightly more tap students. Develop a concise overview of the main contrasts, then report the key figures for all three dance styles and the location categories accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation: the response first introduces the charts, then discusses locations, and finally turns to dance types. This gives the reader a general sense of the intended structure. However, progression is limited by repetition: private studios at 48% is stated twice, while the bar-chart paragraph does not develop into a complete comparison. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In additionally” are used, but they do not consistently clarify relationships between ideas. The final sentence is unfinished, which leaves the discussion without a clear ending. Use one paragraph for the location chart and another for age-group comparisons, and connect each figure to the contrast it demonstrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “pie chart,” “bar graph,” “age group,” and “students,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward, such as “the area of dance classes,” “most popustion,” and “highest accounted.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “popustion” and “nee,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise chart language and avoid repeating “place” and “classes” when describing proportions. For example, describe the categories as locations or venues, and use verbs such as “accounted for” or “represented” when reporting percentages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences, for example, “Furthermore, bar graph illustrates the kinds of dance classes in different types of age groups,” but control is weak and most sentence patterns are simple or faulty. Errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction occur frequently: “which are four different location,” “the private studios has,” and “The School halls is” all show problems with number agreement or article use. The final clause, “above the 11 age,” is incomplete, and punctuation is inconsistent, with several sentences joined or left unfinished. Practise writing complete comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “Private studios account for the largest share, at 48%.”
