Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main location pattern, noting that private studios account for “about half” of classes, and you compare the age groups in ballet and modern dance. These points are broadly supported: private studios are the largest location at 48%, under-11s lead in ballet, and 11–16-year-olds lead in modern. You also include the remaining location shares and several student figures. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly identify tap as the most balanced category, and “ballet … has mostly the children with age under 11” would be more precise as a comparison between 600 and 300. Some details are unclear or inaccurate, such as calling ballet the most popular among children overall. Select the key contrasts and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening overview is followed by a paragraph on locations and one on dance types. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the two charts. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Meanwhile” to signal comparisons. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or do not express the relationship clearly; for example, “In contrast” before the community-hall figure does not establish a meaningful contrast, and “While” begins a fragment in the overview. Some references, including “the above” and “other three portion,” are difficult to interpret. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each comparison directly to the figures being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “private studios,” “age group,” “category,” and “minor changes,” and the reader can generally identify the chart topics. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report less precise, such as “dance classes can be performed,” “types of music classes,” and “the space in which dance classes are performed.” Spelling errors are also noticeable, including “Modren,” “porion,” “Meanwhiel,” and “whcih.” These issues sometimes slow understanding, particularly when combined with unclear phrasing. Aim for concise chart language such as “classes are held,” “dance styles,” and “the proportion of students,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons between age groups, but control is uneven. Some sentence patterns are incomplete or awkward: “Overall, almost dance classes take place…” lacks a clear grammatical construction, and “While, Modren type most of student are with age above 11” is not a complete, well-formed clause. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and number, as in “the ballet type classes has” and “there are three types … are performed.” Punctuation around sentence openings and clauses is inconsistent. Build comparisons with complete structures—for example, “Ballet attracts more under-11s than 11–16-year-olds”—and check subject–verb agreement and article use. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons easier to follow.
