Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two subjects of the charts and report the main location figures accurately: private studios are highest at 48%, followed by school halls at 24%, community halls and other venues at 18%, and college-based studios at 10%. You also note the leading choices for the two age groups. However, the overview is limited and does not clearly summarise the contrast across dance types: under-11s favour ballet, while 11–16-year-olds favour modern dance. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: modern for the older group is about 520, not merely “500 plus,” and tap is about 420 for that group, rather than 430. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the report more complete and better supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two charts. This helps the reader distinguish the location information from the age-group data. However, progression within the paragraphs is often mechanical: “Then people choice” and “finally people choice” repeat the same pattern, while several ideas run together without clear sentence boundaries. The overview also does not prepare the reader for the key contrast in dance preferences. Use more deliberate sequencing, group related comparisons, and connect the figures with clear links such as “whereas” or “by contrast.” More accurate punctuation and paragraph-level organisation would make the report easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “location,” “age groups,” and “number of students,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “people choice” and “dance type.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “prepration,” “sellect,” “baalet,” and “modren,” which reduce clarity and control. Some expressions are not natural for describing chart data, for example “has high percentage” and “choice the ballet dance.” Build a more precise set of reporting verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling carefully; this will help you describe the figures more clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify the figures you intend to report. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to process. For example, the opening lacks a clear construction after “illustrate,” while “the private studio has high percentage” has problems with articles and sentence structure. In “it’s percentage is 48%and then people choice,” the punctuation and clause connection are faulty. There are also recurring errors in subject–verb agreement and verb forms, as in “people mostly choice.” Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences, using articles and plural forms accurately, and separating complete ideas with appropriate punctuation.
