Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main location pattern accurately: private studios lead at 48%, while college-based studios are lowest at 10%, and you include the other location shares. You also make a relevant age-group comparison, noting the under-11 ballet figure is twice the modern figure. However, the response does not fully report the dance-class data: it omits the tap figures and the 11–16 group’s ballet and tap numbers, and the final point about modern dance is left unfinished. The overview also overstates the under-11 pattern by saying both ballet and tap are trending without comparing them with the older group. The response is below the required 150 words. Develop the comparisons across both age groups and complete the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of locations and dance types. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “After that,” and “Regarding” help signal the stages of the report. However, the progression becomes incomplete in the final paragraph, which ends with “Moreover, modern dancing is more trending” and does not finish the comparison. Some connections are also imprecise: “following community halls and college based studios” makes the relationship between the figures less clear than a direct comparison would. Organise the dance-type details into a complete comparison of both age groups, and use clear references and transitions to guide the reader through the figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “college based studios,” and “age group,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also an attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “most commonly” and “least popular.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, including “variety of dancing classes,” “ranking the highest,” “attributed towards,” and “more trending.” Spelling and word formation also need attention in “prefered.” These issues make the report less fluent and sometimes obscure the intended comparison. Aim for standard chart-report collocations such as “accounted for,” “was the most popular,” and “the number of students taking modern dance,” while keeping terminology consistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a comparison using “as compared to.” The main ideas are usually understandable, but errors recur in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “private studios ranking the highest” is not a complete clause, and “the number of children … were double” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence beginning “After that” also has an unclear structure, while the final sentence is incomplete. Use complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement when the subject is “the number.” A wider range of accurately controlled sentence patterns would make the comparisons easier to follow.
