Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and give a relevant overview, identifying private studios as the leading location and college-based studios as the least common. The location figures are generally reported accurately. In the age-group chart, you correctly identify ballet as most popular among under-11s and modern as most popular among 11–16-year-olds. However, the comparison of tap is unclear: it is not balanced, since under-11 participation is about 450 and older students’ participation is about 420. The phrase “nearly ending up at 450 participants” does not make clear which group or figure is meant. Include the key contrasts more precisely, such as the older group’s higher modern figure and the younger group’s higher ballet figure, to develop the chart summary more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by a paragraph on the pie chart and one on the bar chart. This makes the two sources easy to distinguish, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Additionally,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships. Some connections are mechanical or imprecise, however. “By,contrast” is punctuated incorrectly, and “Consequently” suggests a result where you are simply reporting the final location category. The final sentence also combines the tap comparison with an unclear figure, weakening the progression of the bar-chart paragraph. Use transitions that accurately express comparison, and organise the age-group figures in a consistent order so readers can follow each contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “private studios,” “community halls,” “proportion,” and “participants,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Initial investigation depicts,” but several choices are unnatural or inaccurate for describing charts. “Attendence” and “Austrailia” are misspelled, while “an accountable proportion,” “are accompanied school halls,” and “dance classes are being observed” do not express the intended information naturally. “Adult participants” is also unsuitable for the 11–16 age group. Aim for precise reporting verbs and standard collocations, such as “accounted for,” “were held in,” and “the number of students taking part.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a contrast clause with “while” and a comparison introduced by “whereas.” Most of the intended meaning can be followed, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “The pie chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “an considerable proportion” uses the wrong article. In “community halls and other venues showed an share,” the article is again incorrect; “are accompanied school halls” also lacks a grammatical construction for the intended meaning. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, as in “By,contrast.” Check agreement and articles, and build comparisons with complete patterns such as “whereas X accounted for…, Y represented…”.
