Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main categories and give a useful overview: private studios account for the largest share, while college-based studios are the smallest, and you compare the leading dance styles for the two age groups. These are relevant features of the charts. However, coverage is uneven: the location figures for community halls and college-based studios are not fully reported, and the comparison of styles omits important information, especially the tap figures and the under-11 modern figure. The statement that 11–16-year-olds attend modern most is accurate, but the figure is closer to 520 than 550. Develop the summary by including the key contrasts across all three styles and reporting the remaining location proportions accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to details about location and dance types. Phrases such as “Overall” and “According to the types of dance classes” help signal these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the repeated wording “who are most attend” makes comparisons difficult to follow. The location paragraph mentions the largest share and school halls but does not complete the comparison with the other categories. Use clearer topic sentences and organise the figures systematically—for example, describe the location shares from largest to smallest, then compare each dance style across the two age groups. This would make the links between information more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “pie chart,” and “approximately,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling problems reduce precision. Examples include “higher part” and “very small part,” which are not natural ways to describe proportions, and “ballent” for “ballet.” “Moverover,” “yound,” and “beginnig” also show spelling control problems. Repeated use of “attend” and “class” makes the description less varied. Build a more accurate set of chart-description terms, such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” “participated in,” and “the most popular style,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons introduced by “Whereas” and “than.” However, sentence patterns are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between people, classes, and figures unclear. For example, “young people are attended dance classes” uses an incorrect verb construction, while “the under 11 aged people who are most attend class” has problems with clause structure and verb form. Articles and agreement also need attention, as in “the highest part” and “the 11 to 16 aged people.” Practise concise comparison structures such as “Under-11s attended ballet more often than 11–16-year-olds.” Aim to produce accurate sentences before adding longer clauses, while checking verb forms, articles, and plural nouns.
