Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both charts and include several relevant figures, such as private studios at 48%, school halls at 24%, and the age-group comparisons for ballet and modern dance. However, the overview is unclear and contains a major contradiction: it says private studios are the most dominant “type,” then claims the most people attend college-based studios, although that location has the smallest share. The statement that ballet is prominent for the under-11s is supported, but describing the 11–16 group as the “smallest type” is inaccurate; this group has the highest figure for modern dance. Tap is also described as showing a negligible difference, though the figures are close rather than identical. Select the main contrasts accurately and make the overview concise and consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the location and dance-type data. This helps the reader identify the two chart topics. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory statements in the overview, and some transitions feel mechanical, including “After analyzing,” “Furthermore,” and “Lastly.” The sentence fragment “Furthermore, Types of dance classes” interrupts the flow, while the final paragraph moves through the age groups without consistently comparing them. Use complete topic sentences and organise each paragraph around clear comparisons—for example, contrast the age groups within ballet, tap, and modern dance. More precise referencing would also help readers follow which group or location each figure describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “accounts for,” “figure,” “attending,” and the names of the dance styles and locations. There is also an attempt to vary wording with terms such as “prominent” and “negligible.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts: “maximum people goes,” “performing” classes, and “smallest type” do not express the intended comparisons clearly. Spelling errors such as “addtition,” “prominant,” and “negligilbe” are noticeable, and repeated use of “almost” and “students” limits precision. Prefer standard reporting language such as “the largest share,” “attend classes,” and “approximately,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons with “whereas” and “whilst,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic agreement and verb forms: “The given chart illustrate,” “maximum people goes,” and “many people participates.” Articles and number forms are also problematic in phrases such as “under 11 age” and “there is almost 300 students.” Punctuation and spacing need attention, particularly after full stops and commas; “Overall,It” and “classes.Private” make the text harder to read. Some sentences are fragments, notably “Furthermore,Types of dance classes.” Build accuracy first with clear complete sentences, then add comparison clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms.
