Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and identify the main location, private studios, as well as differences between the age groups. The location figures are reported accurately, and the comparison that under-11s favour ballet while older students favour modern is supported by the chart. However, the overview is not fully precise: saying under-11s use “all types” most overlooks that the older group has more students in modern dance. The final comparison also describes a rise from ballet to modern for ages 11–16, but omits the important middle figure for tap and does not clearly state that tap is slightly more popular among under-11s. Include the key contrasts in the overview and develop the dance-type comparisons more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for location and dance types. This makes the two charts easy to follow, and phrases such as “Overall,” “First of all,” and “In terms of” signal the stages of the report. However, some linking is mechanical, and the comparison within the final paragraph is not fully developed. For example, “show a decline in tap and modern” describes the under-11 figures but does not explicitly compare them with the older group. The sentence about ages 11–16 moves from ballet to modern without explaining the tap figure. Use clearer comparative links such as “whereas” and “by contrast,” and organise the age-group figures so each comparison is explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of chart vocabulary, including “followed by,” “figures,” “categories,” and “participants,” so the main information is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “highly used location,” “attendees” for the chart’s student counts, and “the age of peoples who are engage.” “Show a decline” is also not the best description of separate category totals; “decrease across the categories” or a direct comparison would be clearer. There are spelling and form issues in “chat” and “attendes,” alongside repetition of “dance classes.” Aim for precise terms such as “venue,” “students,” and “age groups,” and check spelling and collocations when describing proportions and comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison introduced by “In comparison” and a sentence describing figures across categories. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the age of peoples who are engage” has problems with number and verb form, while “private studios is” and “under 11 are mostly used ballet” show agreement and sentence-structure difficulties. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “the least used dance locations” and “11 to 16 years show.” Punctuation spacing is uneven, with missing spaces after commas. Build accuracy by using complete patterns such as “The under-11 group has…” and “students aged 11–16,” then check agreement and punctuation.
