Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two chart types and report several location percentages, including private studios as the largest share (48%) and college-based studios as the smallest (10%). However, the dance-class comparisons are often inaccurate or unclear: the chart shows about 600 under-11s in ballet, not 650 boys, and the age groups are not divided by gender. You also suggest that more than 300 people attend school halls, although the 24% figure refers to location share, not a student count. The response gives no clear overview of the main patterns across both charts, such as younger students favouring ballet while older students favour modern dance. Select the key comparisons and report them accurately to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the charts, the middle section mentions locations, and the final paragraph begins with “overall.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the topic. However, the ideas do not progress clearly, and several points are joined in a long, confusing sequence, especially the sentence beginning “collage base studio with lowest percentage.” Connections between location percentages and age-group dance figures are not explained, so it is difficult to see how the information relates. The overview is also placed at the end and does not summarise the main trends. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the key details, and group comparisons by chart rather than moving between unrelated figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “highest,” and “lowest,” which helps communicate basic comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to follow, such as “dance classes and we can see in the bar graph present the data regarding of type” and “the group of age has not been properly analysis.” Some terms are also inaccurate: “boys” is not supported by the chart, and “total number of student is 700” confuses the axis maximum with the total. Aim for precise, natural phrases for describing data and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “share” or “proportion” consistently and describe the age groups as “students under 11” and “those aged 11–16.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine information in longer sentences and uses basic comparison structures, such as “with the lowest percentage.” However, many sentences contain frequent grammatical errors that make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “The private studio with the 48 precentage has the highest proportion at that group” lacks a clear sentence structure, while “most of the tap and the modern boys are leading this group” has unclear subject–verb relationships. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “total number of student is 700.” Use shorter, complete sentences first, with a clear subject and verb, then add comparisons using accurate structures such as “The share for private studios is 48%, the largest of the four locations.”
