Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main location pattern accurately: private studios lead at 48%, while college-based studios are lowest at 10%, and you note the leading dance styles for each age group. However, the comparison of dance types is incomplete and partly imprecise. Tap is not simply “over 400 students from both age groups”: the figures are about 450 for under-11s and 420 for ages 11–16, while modern is about 300 and 520 respectively. Include these contrasts to show the reversal between age groups. The response also falls five words short of the 150-word minimum. More complete reporting of the chart’s key figures and a slightly fuller overview would make the task coverage more developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate details about locations and dance types. This makes the main information easy to follow. Linking words such as “Overall,” “while,” and “however” help signal comparisons, although some connections are awkward or mechanically placed, as in “College-based, however, consist of 10%.” The final paragraph groups the dance figures together but does not clearly compare both age groups for each style, so the progression of detail is less complete. Use parallel comparisons—for example, report ballet figures for both groups, then tap and modern—and ensure punctuation and spacing around linking words are consistent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “college-based,” “accounted for,” and “inclined towards.” These choices communicate the subject, but several expressions are unnatural or imprecise: “most selected place,” “do their practice,” and “consist of over 500 students.” There is also repetition of “students” and “dance,” and “percent” is redundant after the percentage sign in “24% percent.” Aim for more precise chart-reporting collocations, such as “the most popular venue,” “attend classes at,” and “the figure stood at.” This would improve naturalness and precision while retaining the relevant vocabulary you already use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “while” and “yet,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, some errors recur in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “The pie chart and graph depicts” needs a plural verb, while “private studios are most selected place” is missing an article. In “College-based … consist of 10%,” the subject and verb do not form a clear grammatical relationship. Several sentences also run together because spaces after commas and full stops are missing. Check subject–verb agreement, use articles where needed, and separate each sentence clearly; these corrections would make your varied structures more controlled.
