Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both charts and include several relevant figures, such as the 48% share for private studios and the contrasting ballet and modern figures for the two age groups. The overview also identifies private studios as the leading location. However, the overview’s claim that under-11s attend the most classes is too broad: they lead in ballet, but older students have more modern students, and tap is fairly similar between groups. Some details are also imprecise, such as describing the age groups as “11 aged” and reporting tap as around 425 rather than approximately 420. To strengthen the response, summarise the main contrasts accurately in the overview and compare the age groups across all three dance styles.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for location and dance types. This makes the two charts easy to distinguish, and phrases such as “Looking at” and “In term of” signal a change of focus. However, progression within the overview is less clear because the statement about which age group attends most classes is not sufficiently qualified. Some linking is mechanical, and punctuation after transitions is inconsistent, as in “Overall,it” and “however” after a full stop. Use clearer comparisons to connect the age-group figures—for example, explain that ballet is more popular among younger students, whereas modern is more popular among older ones—and punctuate transitions consistently.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “largest segment,” “account,” “followed by,” and “learners.” These choices help communicate the main figures, and the response generally stays focused on the topic. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, including “location of private studios higher than,” “11 aged of students,” and “In term of dance classes.” Spelling and form errors such as “morover” and “jn” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “the proportion attending classes at private studios was the highest” and “students under the age of 11.” Check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and more developed comparisons, including the sentence beginning “while 11 to 16 aged group only 300.” However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “48% of private studios, which is the largest segment” is a fragment, while “the location of private studios higher than” is missing a verb. There are also problems with articles and age-group constructions, as in “11 aged group,” and punctuation is inconsistent around sentence openings and clauses. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Private studios account for 48%, the largest share,” and use parallel forms when comparing the two age groups.
