Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two chart topics and report some relevant figures, including private studios at 48%, community halls and other venues at 18%, and college-based studios at 10%. However, the response only partially summarises the data: it gives no clear overview of the main age-group differences, and the dance-type figures are mostly omitted. The claim that under-11s choose all types and that one has a frequency of 600 is too vague; the chart shows ballet at about 600, tap at 450 and modern at 300 for this group. The statement linking community halls to people aged 11–16 is unsupported. Select the key comparisons across both charts and describe them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, follows with an overview-like paragraph, and then adds details using “on the other hand.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview lists venue categories rather than summarising the main patterns, and the body combines location percentages with age-group and dance-type information in unclear ways. Phrases such as “who are age below the 11 group” do not make the reference clear, while “from above” adds little to the conclusion. Use separate, logically ordered paragraphs for the venue chart and the age-group chart, and connect comparisons with precise references such as “whereas” or “by contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “frequency,” “private studios” and the dance-style names, so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “four locaction,” “highest frequency of 600,” and “very least people prefer to go.” Spelling errors including “locaction,” “collage-based” and “konow” also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate chart language and avoid vague phrases such as “from above.” For example, describe a venue as “the least popular location” and use “number of students” when reporting the bar-chart figures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “The above pie-chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Overall,This pie-chart consist” has errors in agreement and punctuation. The long sentence beginning “the chart shows location…” joins several ideas without clear grammatical structure, and “who are age below the 11 group” is not a complete, well-formed description. Use shorter sentences to report each comparison, check singular and plural verbs, and add spaces after punctuation. Practising accurate patterns such as “The chart shows that…” and “Among under-11s, ballet was the most popular…” would improve clarity.
