Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both charts and report several key figures accurately, including the 48% share for private studios and the age-group figures for ballet and tap. You also identify ballet as the leading choice among under-11s and modern as the leading choice among 11–16-year-olds. However, the overview is not fully reliable: you call tap the class with the “most least” students, although it is not the lowest for either age group, and the final sentence says older students attend modern without clearly comparing their preferences. Some comparisons are also unclear, such as describing school halls as “approximately lower” than private studios. A clearer overview of the main contrasts, with accurate comparisons across all three dance types, would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: it first discusses locations, then dance types, and ends with a brief summary. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Now” help signal these sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several figures and comparisons are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the location details are crowded into one sentence, while “According to this graphical presentation” repeats information rather than drawing the main comparisons together. References such as “both of them” are also unclear. Use separate sentences for each comparison and organise the dance-type data consistently by age group or by class to improve clarity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “age group,” and “students,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making comparisons hard to interpret. Examples include “take most of part,” “most least location,” and “most least number of students.” There are also spelling errors such as “austrailia” and “uner,” and informal wording such as “alot.” Aim for precise chart language and check spelling and collocations. Replacing vague expressions with terms such as “account for,” “the smallest proportion,” and “the highest number” would make the report more accurate and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to affect ease of reading. The opening, “This chart illustrate,” has subject–verb disagreement, while “dance classes is classified” also uses an incorrect verb form and agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are often missing or misplaced, as in “which carry 48 percent ,and school halls,” and several clauses are joined without clear punctuation. The final sentence also has an unclear structure: “the students which is under 11 attend classes of ballet.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, plural forms, and sentence boundaries, then build longer comparisons from correctly formed clauses.
