Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main location pattern: private studios are the most popular at 48%, and you mention school halls at 24%. You also make a relevant age-group comparison, noting that under-11s lead in ballet while 11–16-year-olds lead in modern. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate generalisation: the chart does not show that under-11s take more classes overall, since the older group is higher in modern and the figures are close in tap. The ballet figure is given as “six thousand” rather than approximately 600, and tap is not reported. To make the response more complete, accurately compare all three dance styles and report the remaining location shares, while keeping the overview tied to the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a general statement, then details about locations and dance styles. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “In the case of” attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated, and several sentences are incomplete or awkwardly linked, such as “In community halls & other and college-based studios location were less popular…” The repeated references to “the pie charts” also do not guide the reader through the second chart. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and connect each point with clear, accurate transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “ballet,” and “age group,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand: “illusrate,” “calsses,” “perffer,” and “higest” recur, while “flow of age group” is not a natural way to describe student numbers. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “younger people went for dace.” Build a reliable set of chart-description expressions and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise terms such as “accounted for,” “participated in,” and “the number of students,” rather than informal or unclear wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to form longer sentences and comparisons, but the range is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “In table the age group of 11 is take more intersets” has problems with articles, verb form, and sentence structure; “24% of youger people take the classes in school halls after the school end” also has an unclear time clause. Subject–verb agreement and plural forms are inconsistent, as in “location were less popular.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and the longer ones are often faulty. Practise accurate comparative structures and past or present reporting forms, then check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
