Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and report the main location proportions accurately: private studios lead at 48%, followed by school halls at 24%, community halls at 18%, and college-based studios at 10%. You also compare the age groups across all three dance styles, including the key contrast that under-11s favour ballet while 11–16-year-olds have the highest figure for modern dance. However, the overview says ballet is most popular “especially by adolescents,” which conflicts with the chart: ballet is higher among under-11s, and modern is highest among older students. Some comparisons are also unclear, particularly the final comparison between 300 students in older students’ ballet and younger students’ modern. Make the overview more precise and explain the most important contrasts clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the location and age-group charts. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “On the other hand” to signal shifts. However, some connections are mechanical or do not accurately express the relationship between figures. For example, “Additionally in tap quite lower than of modern” is difficult to follow, and “Eventually” is not a natural way to introduce the smallest location share. The final sentence also combines two figures without making their comparison clear. Use simpler, more precise transitions and ensure each sentence develops one comparison at a time.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “approximately,” and “attending,” and the reader can generally identify the categories and figures you mean. There is also some effort to vary wording rather than repeat “students” throughout. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “apex proportion,” “ballet dance is liking,” “shared the highest percentage,” and “lowest area.” Spelling errors, including “percantage,” “especilly,” and “adoloscents,” also reduce precision. Aim for standard data-reporting phrases and check spelling carefully; accurate, natural wording will make the comparisons easier to understand and more formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the response is usually understandable. For example, the location paragraph uses a sequence of percentage details, while the age-group paragraph contrasts the two groups. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, especially in clauses and sentence boundaries. “Followed by school halls, shows the second highest…” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, and “the under 11 childrens are seemed in ballet type of dance” has problems with verb form and sentence structure. There are also errors in articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “different type” and “300 member.” Full stops are sometimes used where a comma or a new sentence is needed. Practise accurate comparison sentences and check each clause for a clear subject and verb.
