Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and include the main location figures, correctly identifying private studios as the largest share (48%) and college-based studios as the smallest (10%). You also make relevant comparisons between age groups: under-11s favour ballet, while 11–16-year-olds have the highest figure for modern dance, and tap participation is similar. These are useful main features. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: saying ballet and modern are both most attended by the under-11s conflicts with the chart, where modern is higher among 11–16-year-olds. Some details are also imprecise, such as describing the other locations as having more students without specifying the comparison. A clearer overview and more accurate, selective comparisons would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, a paragraph on locations and a paragraph on dance types. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by unclear or mechanical linking, including repeated uses of “while,” “on the other hand” and “by contrast,” sometimes where the relationship between ideas is not clear. The overview combines several comparisons in one difficult sentence, and the final paragraph moves between ballet, modern and tap without a consistent pattern. Grouping the figures by chart and comparing the two age groups within each dance type would make the organisation easier to follow. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would also improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “private studios,” “college-based studios,” “age group” and “students,” so the topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts at comparison through phrases such as “highest” and “slightly similar.” However, limited control of word choice and collocation makes several points difficult to interpret: “a five information,” “highly students are private studios” and “people are attend in class” do not express the intended meanings naturally. Spelling errors such as “ausratia,” “morden” and “ballent” also reduce clarity. Build a reliable set of terms for describing proportions and numbers, and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would help you report the chart without awkward repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast clauses, for example, “On the other hand modern dance class are highly in age 11-16.” This shows an effort to connect comparisons, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure, agreement and articles occur in examples such as “The charts show a five information,” “location of dance classes are” and “Tap are significantly similar.” Some sentences lack clear grammatical relationships between their parts, which makes the intended comparison harder to follow. Punctuation is also unreliable, particularly where clauses run together after commas. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and use shorter, complete sentences before adding contrast clauses; this will make your range more effective.
