Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and provide a clear overall picture: private studios are the most common location, college-based studios the least common, and the age groups show different preferences across dance styles. Most figures are accurately reported, including the location percentages and the approximate values for tap and modern. The comparison that older ballet students are “half” the number of younger ones is also correct. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others: the overview could state the main age-group contrast more explicitly, and the figures would be clearer if consistently identified as numbers of students or percentages. The response already selects relevant details; a sharper synthesis of the key comparisons would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by one paragraph on location and another on dance types. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Secoundly” help signal the shift between charts, and the reader can generally follow the comparisons. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several sentences repeat the same pattern of introducing a figure and then adding “while” or “on the other hand.” Some links are also unclear, as in “others like school hall and community hall,” where the relationship between the categories is not expressed precisely. Use more varied comparisons and connect related figures within the same sentence. Clearer punctuation and spacing would also make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “private studios,” “college based studios,” “ballet,” “tap dance,” and “modern dance.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “greater in ratio,” “less than others,” and “there are also some information.” Spelling errors, including “accourding,” “Secoundly,” “aproximately,” and “hald,” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the report. Some word combinations also sound unnatural, for example “children dance in school hall after their school.” Aim for concise chart-reporting language and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for proportions and student numbers would help you describe the data with greater control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons with “while,” “on the other hand,” and “but,” so there is some variety in structure. The main information is usually understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and phrasing recur. For example, “private studios is greater” should use a plural verb, while “the college based studios is less” has the same agreement problem. “There is also a graph that shows…” is grammatically possible but awkwardly constructed, and “under 11 kids that practice ballet dance are…” lacks a clear clause structure. Several sentences run together without adequate punctuation. Practise accurate comparison patterns, such as “The figure for X was…, compared with…,” and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
