Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main location pattern accurately: private studios account for the largest share at 48%, while college-based studios are lowest at 10%; you also report the 24% and 18% figures. The age-group comparisons include relevant features, such as under-11s favouring ballet and older students showing greater interest in modern dance. However, some details are unclear or imprecise: “above 600” for under-11 ballet is slightly high, and the claim that tap is a favourite for every age group is not supported, since it is not the leading class for either group. The overview is present, but it could compare the two age groups more systematically and report the key contrasts in tap as well as ballet and modern dance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows a generally understandable order, moving from the location chart to the dance types, and it includes an opening and a concluding sentence. This gives the reader a basic overall structure. However, the overview and detailed reporting are blended together in a long opening paragraph, so the main features are not clearly separated from supporting figures. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “In conclusion” are used, but connections between individual comparisons are sometimes loose, and the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than synthesising both charts. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview, locations, and age-group comparisons, and organise the latter by comparing the two groups for each dance style.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “location,” “popular,” and “interested,” and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “students,” “go to,” and “dance classes.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Overal,” “intrested,” “collage-based,” and “modren,” alongside awkward collocations such as “loves go” and “uses private studios as their location.” These choices sometimes make the report less clear and less natural. Build a more precise range for describing chart data, such as “accounted for,” “participated in,” and “was the most popular,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons joined with “whereas” and “and,” so there is some variety in structure. The main meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “The pie chart and bar chart gives” should use a plural verb, while “students prefers” and “students … likes” also show agreement problems. Phrases such as “youth are going” and “loves go” are not grammatically formed, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Aim for accurate basic patterns first, then use controlled comparison structures such as “Under-11s preferred ballet, whereas older students favoured modern dance.”
