Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and identify several important features accurately: private studios are the largest location category at 48%, college-based studios are smallest at 10%, and the leading dance style differs by age group. The overview also gives the reader a useful summary of the main contrasts. Some details, however, are imprecise or incomplete. For example, under-11 tap is about 450, not simply “between 400–500,” and the 11–16 tap figure is about 420 rather than 400. The comparison that ballet is the most popular style overall is not made, and the overview’s phrase “almost the half of remaining places” is unclear. More precise reporting and a clearer summary of the key age-group contrast would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on locations, and a paragraph comparing dance types. This makes the two charts easy to distinguish, and transitions such as “Overall” and “In contrast” help signal the structure. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence joins two ideas with “however” even though the relationship is not a contrast, and “Now students with age group between 11-16” creates an abrupt shift. Several sentences also run together because full stops and spaces are missing, particularly in the final paragraph. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more natural transitions, and group the age comparisons in a consistent order to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “distribution,” “enrolled,” and “highest,” which allows you to describe the main data. There is some attempt at variety, but word choice and collocation are not consistently controlled. For instance, “contributes only 18%” is awkward for a chart category, while “has the highest shares” and “taken the lead” are not natural descriptions of these figures. Spelling errors such as “Australlia,” “stuadents,” and “distrubution” are noticeable, and “shares” is imprecise when referring to percentages. Aim for accurate, conventional reporting phrases and check spelling carefully; this would make the vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast between the charts and clauses describing each age group. The main information is generally understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in phrases such as “private studios contributes” and “Modern class have taken the lead.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention: “School halls second on the list” is not a complete sentence, and “which is almost the half” is awkwardly formed. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with a capital “The” after “Overall” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise checking agreement, complete clauses, and punctuation, while keeping complex sentences manageable.
