Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and provide a clear overview, identifying private studios as the most common location and college-based studios as the least common. You also report the main age-group contrasts in ballet and modern, with figures that broadly match the chart. This meets the task well, and the overview shows some selection of key features. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not identify the shift in preference from ballet among under-11s to modern among 11–16-year-olds, or note that tap figures are similar across the groups. The tap comparison also gives the older group as 400, whereas the chart shows approximately 420. Developing these comparisons more fully and checking figures would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised into a brief introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two charts. This gives the reader a clear route through the information, and phrases such as “Looking at the pie chart in more detail” and “Regarding type of dance classes” signal the change of focus. The comparisons within each paragraph are generally easy to follow. To make the progression more effective, group the age-group figures consistently by dance style and use clearer links between the comparisons, rather than presenting them as a sequence of separate observations. The final paragraph would also benefit from a concluding comparison that draws together the contrasting preferences of the two age groups.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “largest proportion,” “percentage,” “accounted for,” and “approximately,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice problems that limit precision: “varaties,” “nembers,” “Bullet,” and “tab class” appear to be attempts at “varieties,” “numbers,” “ballet,” and “tap class.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “experienced the greatest number of students” and “stood at the least figure.” Choose accurate terms for the dance styles and use standard collocations for describing data. A more controlled range of precise reporting language would make the comparisons clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “whereas” and a subordinate clause in “while private studios had the largest percentage.” Most sentences communicate the intended comparisons, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “college-based studios was” and “School halls was” have subject–verb agreement errors; “under 11year” needs a plural age-group form; and “11-16 age group make up” shifts into an incorrect verb form. There are also punctuation issues, such as the missing space after the comma in “500,while.” Check agreement, verb tense, and sentence punctuation during revision. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
