Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the largest category, private studios, and include the four location percentages, so some relevant information is reported. However, the response only describes the pie chart and omits the second chart entirely: there is no comparison of ballet, tap and modern classes between the two age groups. This leaves a major part of the task unaddressed. The overview is also unclear or inaccurate: “community halls & others locations are the least” overlooks that college-based studios, at 10%, are the smallest category, while community halls and other locations account for 18%. Several comparisons are reversed or illogical, including saying school halls at 24% are “doubled of private” studios at 48%, and that 10% is “more than four times” 48%. Report both charts and give a clear, accurate overview of their main contrasts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to move from an introduction to a summary and then details. However, the progression is limited because the second and third paragraphs repeat the location information rather than developing a broader comparison, and the dance-type chart is not incorporated. Linking phrases such as “To highlight” and “Followed by” signal relationships, but some connections are unclear: “college-based studios and community halls & others locations are the least percentage” does not establish which is smallest. The final paragraph also presents figures in a sequence without a reliable comparison. Organise the response around an overview of both charts, followed by one paragraph for location and one for age-group dance preferences, using accurate comparisons to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “private studios” and “college-based studios,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or collocations are awkward, such as “the different type,” “greatest proportion,” “least percentage” and “want to attend.” “Adolescent prefer” is also an imprecise way to describe the chart, which reports student numbers rather than preferences. Spelling errors such as “allso” and inconsistent phrasing reduce control. Aim for precise chart language and vary expressions for describing shares and numbers—for example, “account for,” “make up,” and “the smallest share”—while checking spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main topic is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in basic sentence construction, agreement, articles and comparison patterns. Examples include “the different type,” “a young people,” “private studios have the greatest proportion … which almost a half,” and “school halls have 24% which is doubled of private.” The sentence beginning “The highest percentage that adolescent prefer” is also difficult to follow because its grammatical structure does not clearly connect the subject and verb. Practise forming complete overview sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use comparison structures such as “half the share of” or “twice as high as.” More reliable sentence patterns would make your comparisons clearer.
