Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main location correctly: private studios account for the largest share, at 48%, and you note the contrasting popularity of dance styles across the age groups. However, the response only partially reports the charts. It gives no figures for the dance types, and the comparison that modern is most popular among 11–16-year-olds is accurate, but the claim that ballet is least popular in that group is not: modern is about 520 students, tap 420, and ballet 300. The under-11 comparisons are broadly correct, but their values are also omitted. The response is 118 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits how fully the key features can be covered. Add a clear overview and accurate figures for both charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: the response begins by introducing the charts, then discusses locations and dance types. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph starts with “Therefore” without a clear preceding conclusion, and the final sentence ends abruptly at “least pop.” The location figures and age-group comparisons would be clearer in separate, complete paragraphs, with an overview before the details. Linking is limited and sometimes mechanical, while phrases such as “on the other hand” do not fully clarify the comparison. Use a simple structure—introduction, overview, then one paragraph for each chart—and connect comparisons explicitly, for example, “By contrast, among older students…”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “private studios,” “school halls,” “most popular,” and “least famous,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data. “48% area” and “10% area” confuse a share with physical area, while “very famous between” is not a natural way to describe participation. There are also spelling errors, including “modren,” and the unfinished “pop” weakens clarity. Aim for precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “number of students,” and use “popular” or “most widely attended” rather than “famous.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “the private studios is” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the most popular type … are modern” mismatches the singular subject and verb. In “the half of the location … is based on private studios,” the sentence structure does not clearly express the intended proportion. The final sentence is incomplete, so its comparison is left unfinished. Practise accurate sentence patterns for chart descriptions, such as “Private studios account for 48%” and “Among under-11s, ballet has the highest attendance.” Check agreement, articles, and sentence completion before finishing.
